She turns the corn with her bare hand and then swing her fingers rapidly to gesticulate how hot the corn must have burnt her hand but she persists by monitoring the level at which different corns were done, yet the thick flow of smoke from the coal grill found its direct route to her face as she opens her eyes slightly to pretend like she has not been hurt by the painful ooze of the smoke.
Labake derives joy in helping her mother to roast and sell the corns since she is awaiting her admission into the higher institution while her mother goes to the farm to fetch more corns. Farming has always been their mode of feeding and catering for their necessary bills. Since the arrival of Labake to the park in a quest to assist her mother, she has become a threat to all other corn sellers because of her neat compositions and the special taste in her own corns as proclaimed by her buyers.
One day, Labake’s Mother asked her to leave the small park where she sells her corn to a bigger park for the progress of her business, this seems too challenging for her because she was already famous in her former station. The rate at which she sells at her former station has always been impressive, even though there will be a better opportunity at the bigger park but her believe was that it would take time for her special tasty type of corn to be noticed in the very large park where she has been asked to go. “Well, I will take the big risk” she said to herself as she decided to go after a prayer session of faith with her Mother.
The park was so massive in her thought being her fist day selling there. On her arrival, Mama Bola who was intimidated at the smaller park because of Labake’s success spotted the innocent girl as she sets up her coal grill to start selling. Mama Bola is now a very famous corn seller in the bigger park, so she felt the small girl has come to take her glory from her again, this hatred and annoyance planted enmity within her heart and she decided to lay wait and trap Labake in order to discourage her from coming to the big park next time.
Labake is through with her first set of corns, she asked her mother’s help maid to stay with the roasting corn as she decided to hawk the first set by creating awareness, as she moved to the midst of the massive crowd of travelers and cab drivers, Mama Bola hid herself close to her and deliberately pushed her as if She made a mistake, Labake fell to the Ground and her corns found their way to the midst of the crowd. The people then rushed to pick the corns and began to consume it in an attempt to mock the seller, Mama Bolu stayed back to watch the scene, but to her outmost surprise, Beautiful comments came from the people that took the corns as the whole body of crowd rushed after Labake to Know the source of the tasty corn. The queue of people at Labake’s coal grid requesting to buy corn became so unbelievable to Mama Bolu, Even Travelers were tempted to buy along for the people at home.
Just in a day, Labake became the most famous corn seller in the biggest park of her town through the hateful treat of one of her Enemies of Progress.
"Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over" (Psalm 23:5).
Never allow the fear of challenges before you to deprive you of moving to a bigger field in your spiritual and physical achievements because God has several ways to make his own beloved excel among the massive crowd of the earth.
“The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.” (Psalm 34:10)
However, you need to know God through his son Jesus Christ before you can be his Beloved.
