I refuse to beg
you to know yourself because I got to know that the word ‘SELF’ is synonymous
to “PERSON” according to ‘thesaurus.com’ which means your identity. Knowing
your identity will only earn you distractions when you start to consider your
beauty and knowledge. But the word of God has simplified “YOU” and differentiated
it from your body. 1corintians 3; 16 says “know ye not that ye are the temple
of God and that the spirit of God dwelleth in you”. This clearly shows that you
are not the identity (body) you see, but the temple of God. The proof is in 1 Corinthians
6; 19 “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy ghost which
is in you, which ye have of God and ye are not your own”. Don’t be confused! Your
body is the temple of the Holy Ghost but the “YOU” in yourself is the temple of
God the almighty himself.
Act 2; 4 reads “and
they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as
the spirit gave them utterance”. The presence of the Holy Ghost in its temple
which is their body made it an obvious change in their exhibition as they spoke
in other tongues
The Holy Ghost
cannot work in a body with a defiled temple of God, 1 Corinthians 3; 17 “If any
man defileth the temple of God, he shall God destroy. For the temple of God is holy,
which temple ye are”.
I plead with you
therefore, do not let the image in your identity(body) defile the real YOU ,
because whether you like it or not The person you think you are will be so mute
while you face the judgement throne at last. The body is for you, and not you
for the body, this is the more reason why you can exercise your body to suit
your satisfaction, however “bodily exercise profiteth little but godliness profiteth
all things, having promises of the life that now is, and of that which is to
come” (Timothy 4;8). Godliness is the caring for that temple of God which is
YOU, but defiling that temple with carefree bodily attitude and the lustfulness
that has always been the desire of that Adamic nature in your identity will
only lead your entire self to destruction from God.
It is therefore
better to follow the admonition of Paul to the Corinthians in 1 Corinthians
6;20 “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body and in
your spirit which are God’s” and “...present your bodies a living sacrifice,
holy, acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service”(Romans 12; 1).
Those sinful
acts you call ‘Ordinary’, ‘Just’, Or ‘Only’. You know them. They can destroy
the spiritual grape you are, in the vineyard of God.
So as you try to
be conscious of the real YOU, make this your prayer point according to Song of Solomon
2; 15 “Take us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vine; for our vines
have tender grapes”.
